On Sunday 12th July we are delighted to welcome back dear friend and queer, Pagan botanist, Richard Lewis, for our third graveyard grasses retreat, which is always a summer highlight at Brooking Church, Dartington. Booking essential, please contact Sam.
Join us for a peaceful morning ‘watching the grass grow’ in our beautiful, wild churchyard. After gathering together for tea & meditation, Richard will guide us into a contemplative connection with the often overlooked champions of churchyards: the grasses. Drawing on his professional knowledge as a botanist and ecologist, and his experience as a tutor at Schumacher College, Richard will offer a way into ‘loving the overlooked’ that engages both head, heart and hands. Please bring notebooks, sketchpads and hand lenses if possible.
As usual, we will take a flexible approach to the day. Please plan to arrive at 10am & commit to stay for the morning, if possible. If you would like to stay for lunch at 1pm, please bring a picnic or some food to share and we will carry on into the afternoon if there are those who wish to do so & close with an inter-spiritual wild communion, featuring a cold infusion of churchyard plants. We’ll aim to end around 4pm and appreciate help with clearing up after that. Thank you!
To book, please email Sam at livingspirit3@gmail.com. This retreat is offered on a donation basis, with suggested amounts of £60 (supporters), £40 (standard) and £20 (supported). Please be generous as we have no other funding except your donations – thank you!
