All welcome (but please RSVP – contact here) at Brooking Church from 2-5pm on Sunday 1st February. Please read the details below. Donations invited to help cover costs…
So here’s the plan for my 60th birthday and our St Brigid’s Day celebrations this Sunday afternoon – to which you are all invited!
It’s helpful to know whom to expect, if possible. Please bring seasonal, wholesome, local or whatever finger food & drink to share. (‘Free from’ options are much appreciated by a fair few of us and ‘full of’ options are also equally welcome!)
It’s from 2-5pm on Sunday 1st February at Brooking Church. Parking is limited, so msg me if you need a space (Contact details here). The 80 bus (between Plymouth & Paignton) stops at the bottom of the drive, if you request Tigley Cross.
Please come prepared – Brooking Church is largely unheated! So wear many layers + bring a blanket & hot water bottle. Weather permitting, we’ll have a campfire – please bring a log ![]()
2-3pm will be hanging out, eating cake, drinking tea etc. Arrive anytime during this hour.
3-4pm will be contemplative beeswax candle rolling (for our community use at Brooking Church in the year to come). We’ll touch into the old traditions of this festival, from Imbolc to Candlemas, and close with a shared (inter-spiritual) blessing of the candles. Please try to arrive for the beginning of this, to help sustain a quiet, focussed space.
4-5pm will be more chatting, tea, champagne etc & clearing up. You are equally welcome from 4pm… but may get drafted into helping with the washing up!
Looking forward to sharing this special and sacred time with you…
