4pm – Temple Arts in preparation for 5pm Evensong at Brooking Church on the 4th Sunday of most months.
During the growing season (from March until October) there will be an inclusive/non hierarchical language mystical Christian Evensong at Brooking Church, based on the 1549 First English Prayer Book. This Wild Monastery liturgy (ceremony) is contemplative and includes the use of bells, candles, incense, (optional) bowing, chanting, iconography and times of silent meditation. To enable understanding and depth of practice, for an hour before the service, Sam will be introducing these Temple Arts and how to consciously engage with them as embodied sacred practices, in which the temple of the body and that of the church can come into union in service of All.
This first service is dedicated to Mother Mary as we approach the Feast of the Annunciation on March 25th. Offered on a donation basis (online donation link here or bring cash on the day: £5-15 suggested). No need to book – yet please arrive promptly for the beginning, so we can settle into a meditative space together. Please come prepared to be still in a cold church -wear many layers + bring a hottie & blanket! You may also like to have your journal/notebook etc to hand during the first hour.
